Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed their interest in Ugandan defender, Godfrey Walusimbi, following reports across the media, both in Mzansi and the continent.
The Siya crew revealed last week that Amakhosi had identified Walusimbi as a transfer target. Reports subsequently emerged that the Soweto giants had not taken the correct steps in approaching the player’s club, Gor Mahia, for his signature.
Earlier today the club’s coach, Dylan Kerr, slammed both the player’s camp and Chiefs for their respective actions.
Chiefs’ football manager, Bobby Motaung, has since confirmed the club’s interest in the 29-year-old on their official website.
Motaung said, “The two clubs are in discussions,” says Motaung, “and we hope to finalise the matter in the next few days.”
The left back is under contract with the Kenyan club until 2020, which means that Chiefs will need to negotiate a transfer fee if they are to bring the player on board.
