Mabedi: This Is the Meaning Of Love & Peace
Kaizer Chiefs Coach Patrick Mabedi, Ajax Cape Town v Kaizer Chiefs, 12 May 2018
Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Patrick Mabedi was overwhelmed by the affection the Amakhosi fans showed in their final league match of the season.
Chiefs ran out 2-1 winners over Ajax Cape Town at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon and Mabedi was quick to praise the Amakhosi fans.
“It was a nice game against Ajax, but I need to thank these people out there who came to support the team,” said Mabedi.
“This is the meaning of love and peace.”
Mabedi also commended his players who followed instructions at half time, and which ultimately saw them score two second half goals to win and finish third on the league table.
“I also need to thank the players, they did exactly what we spoke about,” added the coach.
“I told them at half time that they just need to be patient, Ajax are throwing everything and we just need to last. We need to make the right decision. They will leave three defenders and they will leave it open on the side.
“We chose Shabba (Siphiwe Tshabalala) and (Joseph) Molangoane to open it wider and we capitalised on that.
“Overall, I think we should have scored more goals.”
Turning his thoughts to Ajax, who will now have to compete in the promotion/relegation play-offs, Mabedi expressed his sympathy.
“Unfortunately tough luck to Ajax but I wish them the best of luck on Wednesday. They just need to go out there and do their best,” concluded the Chiefs mentor.
