They may be seventh in the Absa Premiership and eight points off the top, but Kgotso Moleko is clinging to the hope that Kaizer Chiefs can catch Orlando Pirates.

The 29-year-old has already played more league games this season (nine) than he did in the previous two, and if he makes four more before the campaign is over than he will have played more than any other in his Amakhosi career (12 was his most in 2015/16).
It remains to be seen whether the former Bloemfontein Celtic will be chosen to line up against Maritzburg United later today, but he knows that they need to get maximum points if they’re to stand any chance of pushing the Buccaneers and others above them for a chance at the title.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Moleko said, “We need to be on the front foot from the first whistle… It won’t be an easy game because they are fighting for their lives. They will be gunning for the win, but we will have to show them that we want it more
“It will be difficult for us to catch the teams above us on the log, but anything can happen in the eight games still left to play. We’re still in it mathematically and – for now – our focus is on the Maritzburg United and SuperSport United matches before the FIFA break.”
The defender’s current contract with Chiefs is set to expire at the end of the season, and he will be eager to prove to Ernst Middendorp and club management that he deserves an extension.
