Amakhosi Stopper Discusses Training Dynamic
Bruce Bvuma says that there is a ‘healthy competition for places’ at Kaizer Chiefs following the arrival of Virgil Vries last month.
Bvuma and Brylon Petersen may have been hoping to battle it out for the number two spot at the club next season, given the exit of Brilliant Khuzwayo, however it appears that the young two have remained down the pecking order – especially in terms of experience.
At 29, Vries is likely to be number two to Itumeleng Khune when the club’s first choice stopper is fit, with Bvuma and Petersen knowing that they essentially have three goalkeepers to get passed if they’re to get into the starting XI.
Speaking to the club’s official website about the situation, Bvuma said, “It’s tough, but I am enjoying it… There is a healthy competition for places. Virgil is bringing in a lot of experience. He’s a good goalkeeper, we are all helping each other.
“We are all looking forward to a competitive season. And when it comes to my personal ambition - I would love to get some game time.”
Chiefs are due to leave for Potchefstroom today to begin their preseason camp.
