Chiefs Comment On Coach Hunt
Kaizer Chiefs Are Still On The Hunt For A New Head Coach
After a third consecutive season without a trophy, Kaizer Chiefs, say that they will ‘focus on rebuilding’ and commented on their lack of a head coach.
Steve Komphela didn’t quite make it to the end of his three-year spell with the Amakhosi, and the supporters will have been unhappy to see another campaign pass by without anything to show for it.
With the club currently on the hunt for Komphela’s replacement, they announced that they will not be having an end of season awards for 2017/18, and they are not happy with how the season panned out – despite landing a CAF Confederation Cup spot.
A statement from the club on their official website said ‘following a comprehensive review of this season’s campaign that saw us finish in (the) third position, the club will focus on rebuilding before the start of the new season and will announce a new head coach and other positive changes in due course.’
Meanwhile, their chairman, Kaizer Motaung, is eager to move on saying, “We want to put this season behind us and concentrate on ensuring that we are in a position to challenge for major honours next season.
“Despite the disappointment, I would still like to commend the players and coaching staff for their commitment and I urge everyone involved with the club to strive towards restoring the club to its rightful place at the pinnacle of football and giving our loyal fans something to cheer.”
The Amakhosi have now begun their off-season after going in for their final session of the season on Tuesday.
