Chiefs Ready To Pounce On Ex-Buccaneer
Kaizer Chiefs Are Believed To Have Shown An Interest In Ndumiso Mabena
Ndumiso Mabena will be a free agent in a couple of days time and Kaizer Chiefs is believed to be interested in bringing him on board for the new season.
The former Orlando Pirates striker has had talks with Platinum Stars about extending his contract at the club, although at this stage hasn’t put pen to paper on anything as he weighs up his future.
Mabena has scored 23 goals since leaving the Buccaneers in 2014, finding some form for the club after a difficult spell in Johannesburg.
The crew spoke to Stars’ general manager, Senzo Mazingiza, who said that they’re hoping to keep the forward but would understand if he looked at options elsewhere.
He said in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, “We had a meeting with Ndumiso this week and of course, we’d like to him to stay with the club.
“I don’t know about an offer from Chiefs, but if he receives a better offer then I’m sure he’ll consider it. We know our limitations and won’t break the bank for one player.”
Mabena will want to consider his options wisely given the fact that he recently celebrated his 30th birthday, with his next long-term contract likely to be the best one that he will be able to sign.
Chiefs will need to bolster their strike force after yet another barren season, with the club having already released the likes of Edward Manqele, Siphelele Mthembu and Lewis Macha in recent months.
