The organisers of the match between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will be expecting an entertaining encounter next month.
Chiefs and Sundowns have been scheduled to play in the newly launched pre-season match on July 21. With Chiefs having recently completed the signing of Khama Billiat, following his departure from Sundowns, the Soweto giants could look to give the Zimbabwean his first match in their colours against his former teammates from the Chloorkop outfit.
In addition, Chiefs fans will be eager to see what the likes of the club’s other new signings Letlhogonolo Mirwa and Andriamirado Andrianarimanana have to offer, should they be given a run against Downs.
On the other side, The Brazilians could look to have the likes of Andile Jali and Guinea-Bissau international, Toni Silva making their debuts against Chiefs to check their readiness for the season ahead.
The organisers have given an update regarding preparations for the match, with CEO of Stadium Management SA (SMSA) Jacques Grobbelaar saying, “This match brings the best soccer talent in South Africa to FNB Stadium, and starts the season with what we expect will be an exhilarating match. New players and a new coach for Kaizer Chiefs means that the fans will be watching this one closely. Our planning has started and we are meeting with stakeholders and the City of Johannesburg weekly to the ultimate watching experience for spectators.”
