Tembo’s Turnaround At SuperSport?
Kaitano Tembo says that he’s already been dealing with pressure at SuperSport United, saying that they can try to turn things around this season and bounce back.
The Zimbabwean, who has been with SuperSport for nearly two decades, was recently appointed as Eric Tinkler’s replacement on a full-time basis, with the club handing him a two-year deal after he saw them avoid relegation in 2017/18.
SuperSport got off to a bad start as they were beaten 2-0 by Cape Town City, however, they get the chance to pick up their first three points tonight when they host AmaZulu at home.
Speaking after the City defeat at the weekend, Tembo told the media, "I’ve been in charge for the last seven months and already I’ve had to deal with pressure because we might have been relegated… For me‚ it’s pressure all the way‚ it doesn’t matter where we are.
“At least now we are starting with a clean slate‚ where we can always try and bounce back whereas from last season it was a little bit difficult as the games were running out‚ we needed points‚ we couldn’t get points.
We came out in the end, though. This game is always about pressure and I can take it.”
Tembo has only lost once during his interim spell at the end of last season, and he will be eager for his side to get back on form tonight in a crucial encounter with Usuthu.
