'We Are Nothing Without Supporters'

Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia could not hide his excitement at the possibility of fans returning to stadiums after over a year of suffering.

The Team of Choice are one of the few teams in the DStv Premiership that has created a beautiful culture at their home games where supporters filled the stadium, Although South African football has without supporters since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kadodia has welcomed the news of the South African government finally allowing fans to come back to stadiums and admits it has been very challenging for them financially and on the field play.

"Fans are a very important part of the club and we will do anything to assist. We plead with government to allow fans into stadiums. We are nothing without supporters as football clubs," Kadodia told the Siya crew.

"This has been a very challenging period for us, financially and perfomance-wise. We need that motivation for players to perfom at their best. We've seen what Maritzburg United supporters have done in previous seasons, without them it has really affected us."

With government easing up lockdown regulations, Kadodia has urged supporters to take advantage of the situation and vaccinate in their numbers because they are needed in those stands.

"Take your vaccine and it important that we do that because we need you in stadiums, it safe and will allow us to return to what we love, I've taken mine with my family, so we urge you all to follow all protocols," he added/
