Despite several reports linking Maritzburg United defender Mohammed Awal with a move to Orlando Pirates, his club’s chairman has insisted that he will be going nowhere.
Both Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are said to be keen on acquiring the 24-year-old’s services, however his club have explained that if he is to move, it will not be to another PSL club.
Farook Kadodia, the Team of Choice chairman, said, “Mohammed is not going nowhere, he’s not for sale. We as a club have had no formal approach by Pirates, but we have had a meeting with the player, he has four years left in his contract and he has no plans to move to a South African club. From Maritzburg his only move will be overseas.”
Maritzburg lost Awal’s predecessor, Mor Diouf, at the end of last season following an impressive campaign in Pietermaritzburg and it seems that they are adamant that they will not lose a second influential defender in the space of one year.
