Kabelo Mahlasela To Undergo Medical Tests, Could Face Months Out?
Kaizer Chiefs new signing is set to undergo further medical tests today and could be facing months on the sidelines after the player suffered an injury similar to that of Ramahlwe Mphahlele.
Amakhosi confirmed the signing of Kabelo Mahlasela from Bloemfontein Celtic last week, however, the player could possibly be out of action for some time before making his official debut in the black and gold colours.
The club confirmed on their official website on Saturday that Mahlasela suffered a serious injury during his first training session with Amakhosi, an injury similar to the one sustained by Mphahlele in August last year.
“His knee got into a bad position after an unlucky tackle,” Chiefs’ physiotherapist David Milner told the club’s official website.
“He’s injured a meniscus inside the knee joint. The injury is similar to the one Ramahlwe Mphahlele had.
“We did do his medicals on Wednesday and Thursday before training and he came through his tests without any problems,” Milner added.
“Mahlasela will see a specialist and undergo more tests on Monday. The club will provide an update on his injury on Tuesday,” the club went on to reveal.
Following Mphahlele’s injury to his knee, the player has been out of action since August last year and it remains to be seen whether Mahlasela will see a similar fate.
