Chiefs Reveal Debut Hopes For New Signing

Kabelo Mahlasela Is Closing In On His Kaizer Chiefs Debut

By Soccer Laduma - Mar 28, 2018 01:00 PM

Kaizer Chiefs say that new signing, Kabelo Mahlasela, should be back in full training in two weeks, with his Amakhosi debut drawing closer.

The 27-year-old joined the Glamour Boys back in January after making the switch from Bloemfontein Celtic, but sustained a bad knee injury shortly afterwards and was ruled out for three months having undergone surgery.

Now, with the 2017/18 season almost at an end, there does seem to be a chance that Mahlasela could get his debut in the gold and black before it is over.

The club’s first team physiotherapist, David Milner, gave an update on the attacker’s progress to their official website, saying “He’s doing very well… Kabelo is playing in warm-up setups. He is participating in passing games while continuing with running and physiotherapy exercises.

“His progress is according to plan. Kabelo will play as an extra man next week and will then go on to participate in full training in two weeks’ time.”

Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed that George Maluleka is in contention to face Baroka in the Nedbank Cup this weekend after making a full recovery from his ankle injury.

Chiefs face Bakgaga at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday evening.

I think as a Country players should be seen at age 16. Our development or scouts should go around all corners of our Provinces in search of young talent. Where was the player in question all along just to appear at Bloem Celtic at this late age. Players like Ecstein are 27 yrs old yet he can't shoot at goal, loses balls easily at critical stages, cannot pick a spot, cannot create and contribute like an old man Shabba. Shabba was great at an early age and is still great at his age now.

Good news,we can't wait to see our dribbling wizard in action and we hope the injury is not recurring and doesn't affect him psychologically in fifty /fifty challenges.

Great news indeed. It is unfortunate that with the current coach, one cannot be certain that his skills will be appreciated. I hope this headless coach doesn't bench Mahlasela until the latter is able to prove that he could be a good defender as well. But I have no doubt that if Mahlasela can be fielded for his attacking prowess and nothing else, the team will benefit from his skills. I'm of the view that beyond Katsande, if we can have attack minded players, Ntshangase, Shabba, Zuma, Castro and Mahlasela, I have no doubt that we will have opponents more worried about defending than firing warning shots at us like Baroka did recently.
