He may have joined Kaizer Chiefs last season, but Kabelo Mahlasela could well be seen in an Amakhosi shirt for the first time this weekend in the Maize Cup.

Mahlasela joined Chiefs from Bloemfontein Celtic in January, however, picked up a bad injury shortly afterwards that required the midfielder to go for surgery – consequently missing the rest of the campaign.
Now, since being back to full fitness, the 27-year-old is looking forward to showing the Amakhosi faithful what he’s capable of, saying that he wants to repay the support that he’s been shown since making the move to Naturena.
He told the club’s official website, “I am looking forward to the Maize Cup… I will be ready and give it my best if I am given an opportunity to play in our game against Buya Msuthu.
“It was difficult. I wanted to show everybody what I could do. Instead, I was out for the rest of the season… It’s great to be back in full training with the guys. I want to repay the Kaizer Chiefs supporters and the club’s management for all the support they have given me over the last few months.
“It was hard, but everybody stood behind me, including our supporters whose backing was such a morale boost. It’s now up to me to repay all those people with my performances on the field.”
Chiefs face Buya Msuthu of the ABC Motsepe League at Orkney’s James Motlatsi Stadium on Saturday.
