Justin Shonga: We Had To Dig Deep
Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga admits his side had to dig deep in order to beat Chippa United 4-2 in an Absa Premiership match on Sunday afternoon.
A brace from Shonga saw him help his side come from a goal down to seal victory and earn second place on the league table.
“I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity and the coaches for pushing me to work hard in the Absa Premiership and now I am coping with the games,” Shonga told SuperSport after the game.
“We had to push each other because we knew we were not playing from home, we were playing away so we had to keep that focus.
“We were looking for that one goal and hoping we could maintain it and defend it, but we had to dig deep and push each other.
“We knew it would come if we continued to work hard and it finally paid off.”
Shonga’s second goal was a spectacular long-range effort from the right side of the box, but it is something he admits to practising in training.
“I work on that every time we are on the attack. I just showed composure and it worked out today,” concluded the Pirates attacker.
