Vukusic Confident Of Guiding AmaZulu To Safety

AmaZulu head coach Jozef Vukusic is confident of guiding the side to safety in the Absa Premiership, despite suffering a third straight defeat.

Usuthu remain at the bottom of the league standings after a 1-0 loss to Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.

Despite the side's shaky form, Vukusic believes he can steer Usuthu clear of danger by the end of the season.

“We played a good game. I think in the first half, we kept it 0-0 which was the plan. (The plan was) if we couldn’t score let’s keep it zero-zero because the last games they played they scored two-three goals in the first half then it was easy for them to play,” Vukusic told SuperSport TV.

“It’s not nice to concede so early in the second half. I think we made a mistake conceding the goal then we should rather concede from other situations but our keeper made saves, fantastic.

“But the game was good until 90 minutes, we tried our best and every single player played on its limit individually and it was even a good team performance.

“It was a balancing game in defence and offence. We gave them a lot of problems. They were sometimes nervous but finally they scored one goal and I have to congratulate them. But we will keep working on that.

“Now it’s the final of the league. Its ten games, we have direct opponents, we play them so we must continue on that performance then I’m confident we will survive which is our target. So continue on today’s performance and start next week when we play direct opponents,” he said.
