Jomo Cosmos coach Jomo Sono admits his side do not have the quality to compete with the best following his side’s 0-0 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership match on Tuesday night, but they have the right attitude.
Cosmos worked extremely hard both on-and-off the ball to frustrate the Amakhosi as they played to a 0-0 draw at Olen Park.
“Playing against Kaizer Chiefs and getting a draw, and creating so many chances, it is what we have been doing the last six games,” said Sono after the match.
“We are creating chances and defending well.
“We are happy because getting a draw against Kaizer Chiefs, especially not having won a game yet, will boost the confidence of the players.
“It was a hard working performance from my team and that is the way we are going to play the whole season.
“We are a hard working team, we do not have enough quality players, so we have to replace that with hard work.
“Overall I am happy.”
Cosmos goalkeeper, Sherwin Naicker, was largely responsible for his side’s clean sheet as he produced numerous outstanding saves which earned him the ‘man of the match’ award.
“It was definitely tough. We had to dig deep.We knew they were going to come at us. ‘Bra J’ told us that if we keep a clean sheet we will come away with something,” said Naicker after the game before touching on why he delayed the game by ten minutes before kick-off.
“There was a misunderstanding at the beginning of the match. We were supposed to start with a different colour. I had black socks on first then I changed and after that my tights weren’t the right colour, I think it is fault.”
