Jomo Cosmos have explained how they beat Mamelodi Sundowns in a recent friendly match this week.
The National First Division side has confirmed securing a 1-0 win over the PSL Champions in a friendly match played in Chloorkop on Tuesday.
“Jomo Cosmos got their pre-season build up into a flying start when they defeated PSL Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in a friendly game in Chloorkop Tuesday afternoon,” confirmed Cosmos on the club’s official website.
“It was a warm-up game to prepare the Brazilians for this weekend’s trip to Togo for a CAF Champions League tie. One of Ezenkosi’s new signings, Vusumuzi “Sketcha” Mncube struck the all-important goal in the second half of the tense encounter to give the visitors a morale-boosting win.
“Cosmos have been hit by a mass departure of players ahead of the new season, with influential stars like Tebogo Makobela, Lefa Hlongwane, Ananias Gebhardt and Tebogo Tlolane seeking greener pasture at various PSL teams,” confirmed the club.
Ezenkosi have confirmed signing five players, including a Namibian international defender and a Nigerian midfielder.
Cosmos boss, Jomo Sono has also promoted a 15-year-old attacking midfielder in Zuko Gxabuza, who has graduated from the club’s development to the senior team.
“Meanwhile, Cosmos have so far confirmed signing five new players for season 2018-2019.
The list includes goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi, Namibian international defender Riaan Hanamub, Nigerian midfielder Victor Ohizu, centre back Scelo Hlatshwayo, and promoted Academy star, Zuko Gxabuza.
