“What a steal? What a steal?” were the first words out of SuperSport United coach Cavin Johnson’s mouth following his side’s 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates in an Absa Premiership match on Satruday afternoon.
Johnson admitted his team were not at their best on the day and perhaps stole the victory, but it is three points they are happy to take away from Orlando Stadium.
“We came here and we did not play the way we planned,” said Johnson.
“In a lot of the game we sat too deep and yes the substitutes (Mame Niang and Dino Ndlovu) we made delivered the goals and put Pirates on the back foot.
“But even then when we were leading 2-0 they came at us.
“All resect to Pirates, they are a very good team, but they just couldn’t get past our defence today, the ball wouldn’t fall for them.
“We stole the points from Pirates, but we are happy, but at the same time we have to go back to the drawing board to play better in the second game (of the year).
“It was not a good game, but the three points are in the bag and you can only build on from winning performances.”
