Cavin Johnson has informed his new players at SuperSport United that they will be playing football at pre-season training, not just running.
Johnson was finally appointed as the new head coach of Matsatsantsa last week after months of speculation linking with him the three-time PSL champions, and on Monday he had his first interaction with his troops on their first day of pre-season.
The former Platinum Stars coach was lauded last season for the good work that he did with Dikwena, leading them to a second place finish in the Absa Premiership. He regularly shared his views that football should be a beautiful game.
After his first day with the club, on Monday, a source revealed that the coach aims to keep up his good work on the football field.
The source explained, “He just told the players that he’s very happy to be at the club, and explained that they’ll enjoy his training. He said that they’ll be playing football with him in charge, not just running.”
SuperSport are expected to challenge for the PSL title next season, with Johnson and a number of new faces aiming to impress in their first campaign with the club.
