Following his side’s impressive showing against Manchester City on Sunday, SuperSport United coach Cavin Johnson dedicated the victory to Nelson Mandela.
The former president is currently in hospital in critical condition and Johnson said that United’s 2-0 win was entirely for Mandela.
“It is all for Madiba. As a club and as SuperSport we dedicate this win to him,” said Johnson after the match before touching on his thoughts of the game itself.
“The players went out there and showed what is to come.
“For me the 2013/2014 season starts on the 3rd August.
“This was entirely for the big man and I wish him well, and I hope he recovers very soon.
“As far as my team is concerned, we learnt a lot in many areas. For example, we need to keep the ball wide, that is what we would like to do, we would like to play a little quicker in the midfield and also we were sitting too deep in defence.
“But I am happy with a lot of things that happened today.”
