Platinum Stars’ in-demand head coach, Cavin Johnson, says that he’s happy at the club, despite being linked with a move to SuperSport United.
Soccer-Laduma reported recently that Johnson was among the candidates linked to take over from Gavin Hunt at Matsatsantsa should he leave the Tshwane-based outfit, although Johnson says he’s got no plans to leave just yet.
It is believed that Hunt’s future will only be decided once his side have played in this weekend’s Nedbank Cup final, although Johnson is thought to be one of the club’s favourites to take over the reigns should he leave.
Despite the rumours, Johnson told Soccer-Laduma that it’s business as usual for him at present, and that he’s just focusing on the task at hand.
He said, “There’s nothing on that at the moment. I’m happy where I am, as we speak I’m busy looking at players, I have a couple of players coming in on trial. I’ll be sitting with the management in the week and we’ll be discussing what is the way forward.”
There will no doubt be some coaching changes between now and the start of the 2013/2014 season, although it remains to be seen whether Johnson will still be in Phokeng when it starts.
