The football fraternity is finally excited again following the announcement of the return of the 2019/20 season.
Premier Soccer League chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza confirmed on Monday that the domestic season will resume action on August 08 and that the Nedbank Cup, Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship campaign will all be completed before the end of September.
Majority of the teams and club bosses, including John Comitis, have welcomed the news of football’s return and the Cape Town City chairman revealed that his side is raring to go.
“I think we are all very excited to hear that we will be returning to the playing field and I think under the circumstances with the many uncertainties in the whole world at the moment, to know that you have a date to resume football and the current season to its completion. I think (it) is obviously on a sporting basis the most fairest way to complete the decision on promotion and relegation and I am glad that the PSL, the Board of Governors and the chairman (Dr Irvin Khoza) has made this decision in unison. So we look forward to the return, and our team Cape Town City, we are ready, we have been prepared for this so it is a long time coming and we are very grateful,” Comitis told the media.
City have so far confirmed zero COVID-19 positive cases within their set-up and adding to their excitement, the club recently confirmed that their star player, Kermit Erasmus has made a full recovery from injury.
