Ajax Cape Town have confirmed that former Orlando Pirates defender, Robyn Johannes, will be training with the club during their pre-season preparations.
The 26-year-old’s contract with the Buccaneer soon coming to an end, the player has begun his search for a new club elsewhere ahead of the new season.
It has already been reported by Soccer-Laduma that the Urban Warriors are keen on bringing Johannes to the club as they attempt to bolster their defence, and now their CEO, George Comitis, has confirmed that he will be training with them.
A statement on the club’s official website said, “We are looking to beef up our central defence therefore we are looking at all our options. Robyn will be training with the team during the pre-season and we are hoping that he impresses enough for the club to make him an offer.”
Also, as reported by Soccer-Laduma this past weekend, Comitis also confirmed that they were looking into the possibility of signing Scottish international, Andy Webster.
In the same statement Comitis said, “We are also talking to the agent of the Scottish international, Andy Webster. Webster’s contract with Heart of Midlothian came to an end this season and the player is looking for a new club.”
The Ajax website also explained that the club are hoping to conclude the deals of Mabhudi Khenyeza and Matthew Booth in the near future.
