Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Joel Masilela, has tipped the Brazilians to win their Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash against Orlando Pirates tonight.
Although Masilela reckons that a cup game is different from league game, he says the Buccaneers are sluggish at the moment.
“This is the big one again. I don’t want to say Pirates is doing bad or out of form, but there’s something that doesn’t work for now. Perhaps their new coach could be still trying to find new combinations. My team, Sundowns are doing well so far, but not dishing out the best of football. The most important thing is they’re getting results. So far so good, the morale is good and the injured players are back. I like the competition at the club and it creates headaches for Pitso Mosimane.
“We played and won against Bloemfontein Celtic but that doesn’t mean we can take that into a cup game. That was tough as we know they’re good team. This will be a different ball game, tactics and the mood of the players will be different. This game needs best performers and good goalscorers. If you waste your chances, you’re out. I believe my team has the urge on this one. I give them a 2-0 win, but Vladimir Vermezovic can change his style in this game. Sundowns must forget the league games and focus on this one,” added Fire.
The game gets underway at Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 20:15.
