Celtic managed to temporarily halt Chiefs' title quest with a goalless draw at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The result left coach Jelusic brimming with excitement at how they managed to hold their own against the might of the Glamour Boys in their own backyard.
“I’m proud of our players because they fought hard during the game. They worked very hard. Yes, our opponents had more shots on goal but overall I think we deserved the point,” Jelusic told SuperSport after the game.
“We planned to do more, to have more shots on goal and penetrate. But the opponents is also a very quality team. It’s not easy to play them, but I’m glad with the approach of our players they worked very hard,” he added.
The Serb also took the time to explain his substitution at the start of the second half, where he brought on Kabelo Dlamini for Jacky Motshegwa.
“We tried to have some fresh legs for new dynamics in the game and to be faster with counterattacks and have more shots at goal.
“He tried a few times to take a shot because he is good at it and he can score from those angles but of course it doesn’t happen so easy. But I’m happy with the commitment of my players,” Jelusic explained.
