Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele has urged his teammates to accept Roger de Sa’s decision to step down as the team coach and focus on improving the team’s fortunes.
De Sa stepped down as the Buccaneers coach last Friday after leading the team to three cup finals, including the CAF Champions League.
“Roger’s departure came as a shock to us because it came unexpected considering that the team was improving. But having said that, we need to accept his decision and focus on achieving our goals this season,” Jele told the Siya crew.
Jele was full of praise for De Sa, saying he was one of the best coaches he has worked with at Pirates.
“Roger was a good coach Pirates and he did his best for Pirates. It’s a pity that he had decided to leave the team when we were showing some improvements especially in the league. I would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best wherever he is going,” concluded Jele.
In the meantime, Eric Tinkler has been appointed as an interim coach. Tinkler will be assisted by Tebogo Moloi.
Ironically, Tinkler first game in charge is against his former team Wits on Tuesday night.
