Suspended Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele is confident that the Buccaneers will do well without him when they face Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League Final second leg in Egypt on Sunday.
As reported by the Siya crew and confirmed by the club, Jele and midfielder Andile Jali are suspended for this clash after collecting second bookings in the first leg at Orlando Stadium last weekend.
“I have been suspended before in this competition and the team managed to do well without me, so I’m confident they’ll do well in Egypt,” Jele told the Siya crew.
“It took team work for us to reach the final of the Champions League and it will take team work to win it. At the end of the day, it’s not about Happy or any other individual, it’s about Pirates as the team,” added Jele.
Meanwhile, Jele has warned his teammates not to read much into their 3-0 win over Ahly in the group stages of the competition.
“This is the final of the Champions League, not a group match, so it’s a completely different ball game. Ahly have shown us how difficult it is to beat them when they held us to a draw at Orlando, but I’m confident that whoever is selected on the day will do the job for us,” concluded Jele.
Pirates will take on Ahly at Arab Contractors Stadium on Sunday at 18h00.
