La Liga and SAFA Presidents To Grace Soweto Football Tournament

Javier Tebas and Dr Danny Jordaan to attend Kwa Mahlobo Football Tournament Final

By Mkhize - Dec 23, 2017 10:55 AM
The Siya Crew can confirm that La Liga President Javier Tebas will be in South Africa and will be joined by South African Football Association President Dr Danny Jordaan where both the esteemed administrators will attend the finals of the La Liga sponsored Kwa Mahlobo Football Tournament in Soweto.

The annual Kwa Mahlobo Football Tournament for the past 20-years has grown to become one of the biggest festive season football tournaments in the country. For the first time in its history the tournament staged at Kwa Mahlobo Secondary School will see the competing teams on the final day having the privilege of playing in front of both the La Liga and SAFA Presidents.

“KwaMahlobo tournament is about more than just identifying about football talent it’s also about bringing the festive cheer to Soweto. It’s about giving the youth something positive to do during the holidays and we are honoured that La Liga has seen the value of investing in this philosophy,” said SAFA’s head of Communications Dominic Chimhavi to Soccer Laduma.

“What is more special this year is that both Mr Tebas and Dr Jordaan will be in attendance to witness for themselves the talent on display and the festive euphoria that this tournament generates for the communities of Meadowlands and other surrounding areas,” added Chimhavi.

The tournament runs throughout the festive season starting from 21 December 2017 culminating in the final that will be played in the New Year on 6 January 2018. The wining team will pocket over a R120K in prize money, a trophy and Champions gold medals. The runners up will pocket R50K and silver medals while the third place finalist will get a cheque for R25K and bronze medals.

With further prizes including football kits, balls and equipment the total prize money value runs into thousands truly making this the biggest football community tournament in South Africa.

Community members of Meadowlands and the surrounding areas are encouraged to attend the football spectacle and view the football talent on offer.

It's a great initiative but we would like to see oportunities like these also being benefited by those kids or the youth from deep remote rural areas in the eastern cape, kwazulu natal, limpopo and mpumalanga.gauteng have so privillage with many great initiatives taking place there.i woul to call upon to mr dany jordan to spread his wings across the country specialy when it comes to football development.also the youth in villages need something that can occupy them.in that way they'll be safe from crime and subsance abuse.
