It seems that the once riveting era of CBD is nearing its end at Mamelodi Sundowns, with the last two remaining forces set to be heading for the exit at the Chloorkop-based club.
The 2015/16 Absa Premiership campaign was an unforgettable season for Masandawana, as the Brazilians went on to clinch their seventh league title in the history of the club.
Masandawana were a force to be reckoned with at the time, with Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly all experiencing one of their most illustrious run of form, where their attacking partnership helped the Brazilians lift the league title, Telkom Knockout Cup and soon after, the CAF Champions League trophy.
In the domestic campaign at the time, the trio scored 26 goals among them, a form that Sundowns are yet to replicate two seasons later.
Dolly’s time with Sundowns came to an end during the January transfer window period this year, 2017, after making the move to Europe, while Sundowns have still not found his replacement.
However, it seems that come January next year, Head Coach Pitso Mosimane will have to prepare his attack for a new era, as he has stated countless times in the media that both Billiat and Castro will be leaving the club in the upcoming transfer window.
Castro has been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, while Billiat’s immediate future is yet to be determined.
