Mamelodi Sundowns’ Emiliano Tade has been described as a player who possesses the qualities that are lacking in South African football.
After signing from AmaZulu last week, Tade marked his debut for the Absa Premiership champions with a goal as the Chloorkop outfit defeated Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas in their CAF Champions League match on Friday.
Former Sundowns defender, James Mayinga, has commended Downs for signing the 30-year-old Argentinian.
“First of all, I would say he is still new in the PSL but from the games he has played, he has proven himself in terms of quality. Secondly, the goals he has been scoring aren’t just your ordinary goals. The way he scores his goals show in him the quality of strikers that we lack in South Africa. He’s not a typical number nine but is more of a false striker with quality to exploit spaces,” said Mayinga.
Downs fans will look for more of the same performances from Tade in their upcoming matches, starting with tonight’s league clash with Black Leopards at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
“I’m happy because the way Sundowns play suits him. He is more like (Sibusiso) Vilakazi. It’s unfortunate that Vilakazi has a long-term injury but he (Tade) will be a perfect replacement for him,” added Mayinga.
