Kaizer Chiefs’ Ugandan defender, Ivan Bukenya, is ready to do battle against Ivorian outfit, ASEC Mimosas, in the CAF Confederation Cup this weekend.
The 22-year-old recently scored his first goal for the club in the Nedbank Cup win over FC Buffalo, and will be hoping to put in a similar level of performance against the giants from the Ivory Coast on Sunday.
It remains to be seen what sort of starting XI Stuart Baxter will field against Mimosas, though it seems likely that Bukenya will start at the centre of his defence.
Speaking to Chiefs’ website on the prospect of the game, the defender said, "I think it will be a tightly contested game because we are playing against a good opposition in ASEC Mimosas, but we are going to win,"
I am focused on working hard on my game because I know there are much bigger challenges ahead of my career and for the team. We are preparing for the game and the fans can anticipate a beautiful win on Sunday.
"ASEC is a good team. They are a good academy that has exported a number of good players to Europe likes of Yaya and Kolo Touré and Didier Zokora."
The game will take place on Sunday, when Chiefs host Mimosas at Dobsonville Stadium at 15h00.
