Khune On Gould And Daniels Partnership, Congratulates City Defender

Itumeleng Khune Speaks On New Bafana Bafana Centre Back Partnership, Congratulates City Defender

By Soccer Laduma - Oct 09, 2017 11:14 AM

Bafana Bafana international, Itumeleng Khune, has talked about the new national team centre back pairing of Morgan Gould and Clayton Daniels while also congratulating a Cape Town City defender for his debut.

Bafana claimed a 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter, with the entire team putting up stellar performances both in front and at the back.

Speaking on the South African Football Association’s official website, Khune, who donned the captain’s armband on the day, says that the centre back pairing of Gould and Daniels was new to him although the defenders executed the plan well.

“I played with Morgan (Gould) at club level and I played with Clayton (Daniels) at national level and it is a new pairing for me under Coach Stuart and it all starts at training, communication is what we’ve been doing and we told ourselves, let’s carry the same commitment and the same confidence in to the match and it worked. Yes, I played (with)r a lot of defensive players but (with) good communication, everything just falls into place,” he said on SAFA’s official website.

Khune then went on to commend City’s right back, Thamsanqa Mkhize, who received his first call-up to don the famous green and gold.

“With Mkhize, he’s very quiet and he is not talkative but, he listens and whenever we give him instructions, he listens and he goes into the position, he played very well and we all congratulated him on his first match for Bafana,” Khune added.

as I have always mention in the past, we need solid defenders to play the ball from the back and I do share the same sentiments with Khune about Daniels and Gould, I don't think Tyson and Mathoho can do that part, Rivaldo and Gordinho should be groomed for those two position. am not surprised why Khune did not mention Hlanti, he doesn't fit in the position, Langerman and Phugwayo can do much better. overall I am happy with Jali new postion behind the striker.i would like to see more pace when attacking the opponents and maybe the coach must consider Dolly o mahlambi for Vilakazi.

Ja nice to get a win at last. To those two games we lost. According to my opinion if Bafana bafana Coach trust all his player like he trust Furman we should win those games. Supporters always crying about Jali, Tau ,Mabunda and Zwane to be in the first eleven. What makes him to start with those player is because he is under pressure now. Those players use to start on the bench, they done the job, what else do you need

Great Win indeed. Well done. We can do it on our own. We have to beat Senegal twice, to proof that we deserve to go to Russia. I believe we can do it. We can qualify properly like other nations for the first time sine 1998. Great team work Bafana Kaofela.
