Kaizer Chiefs captain, Itumeleng Khune, won’t be fit enough to take on Orlando Pirates in this weekend’s Soweto Derby.
Khune has missed the Amakhosi’s last four games after picking up an ankle injury in the warm-up to the Black Leopards encounter in the Nedbank Cup, with Reyaad Pieterse being chosen as his replacement by Stuart Baxter.
During those games, the 22-year-old shot-stopper kept three clean sheets, though he was beaten twice in last night’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Platinum Stars.
There has been talk of Khune making a return to action for this weekend’s all-important Soweto Derby, though the Siya crew have been informed that his original prediction of facing four weeks out of action remains true.
With this in mind, it seems that Pieterse will remain between the sticks for the Amakhosi in the coming weeks, with Khune only expected to make his return in early April.
