Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, is continuing his rehabilitation as he looks to make it back from an ankle injury.
The Siya crew reported this week that the 26-year-old was highly unlikely to make it back in time for this weekend’s CAF Champions League game, something that has now been backed up by the club.
Khune has been out for a number of weeks now after picking up a knock in a pre-game warm up, with youngster, Reyaad Pieterse, having to deputise for him.
Now, as predicted, it seems that Khune still faces a bit of time on the sidelines, and will miss tonight’s clash with FC Buffalo and the weekend’s return leg with AS Vita in the CCL.
A statement on the club’s website said, “At present Khune has been evaluated by the medical team and is cleared to further continue his expected, short-term rehabilitation.”
Khune could well make his return to the squad early next month, either against Golden Arrows on April 2 or for the tie with Mamelodi Sundowns on April 5.
