Chiefs Provide Update On Khune
Giovanni Solinas has confirmed that Itumeleng Khune is back in camp with Kaizer Chiefs ahead of tonight’s clash with Baroka, although he is yet to select his goalkeeper for the game.
Khune missed the win over Free State Stars in the MTN8 due to personal reasons, with his girlfriend, Sbahle Mpisane, in a critical condition in hospital following a car accident last week.
Now, with Mpisane recovering, it has been revealed that the Amakhosi captain could well be available for selection this evening, though he will have to show that he’s ready to start ahead of Bruce Bvuma and Brylon Petersen. Virgil Vries is out having picked up a knee injury.
Solinas told the club’s official website, “We have three goalkeepers in camp… We will mull about the selection of the goalkeeper, but it’s good to see that Khune is back in camp and available for selection.”
Meanwhile, with regards to Joseph Molangoane, who could potentially miss the rest of the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season, Solinas said, “His injury is a major blow to our planning. We will fully support Molangoane on his road to (recovery)… We have capable players to cover that role.”
Chiefs take on Bakgaga at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium this evening at 19h30.
