It’s been confirmed to the Siya crew that Maritzburg United are set to open up crunch talks with their head coach Ernst Middendorp regarding the way forward for the club following yet another defeat in the DStv Premiership.
The Team of Choice are currently sitting at 13th position on the league standings, having failed to register a victory in their previous nine encounters.
Following a 2-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium last night, questions have been raised regarding the immediate future of Middendorp at the helm.
Though speaking after the game, Middendorp admitted that there is a need for concern regarding the current situation.
"No like I said, it is a discussion and in the discussion, it is something where you have different views and opinions, sometimes you don't agree on things, that's good,” Middendorp told the media on Wednesday evening.
"It would be a disaster to not be concerned by the situation of the club at the moment from the Chairman and the board, so yeah there's concerns and it is painful to not get points. For me, I would like to continue because we have a good squad and by adding new players we can come out of this.”
Speaking to the Siya crew, Maritzburg’s chairman, Farook Kadodia confirmed that the two parties will be meeting to discuss a way forward while admitting that no decision has been made regarding Middendorp’s position as head coach at the club.
"We will have a discussion with the coach, get his strategy on how he can change things around, we will then take it from there. We can't tell you when and where we will meet, it not fair for us to tell you that,” Kadodia revealed.
"There's no decision made about the coach, as I said we will wait on his report and plan for the way forward, then take it from there,” he added.
It remains to be seen what decision will be made regarding Middendorp’s immediate future. The Siya crew will investigate further.
