Chippa United could miss out on securing Erwin Isaacs’ services for the remainder of the season. The Cape-based side are keen to bring the player to Cape Town and have been in discussions with Wits over a possible move.
The former Santos player has been linked with a move back to the Mother City after receiving little game time at Wits under former coach, Antonio Lopez Habas. However, according to a reliable source close to the negotiations, Clive Barker, who has taken over from Habas, wants to have his own assessment of the player before allowing him to leave.
“It was public knowledge that Chippa wanted Isaacs. But because of the change of coaches at Wits it is unlikely to happen. I think Clive Barker wants him. So, that’s the problem we are having at the moment. He (Barker) wants to assess the player and make his own decision,” said the source.
Isaacs joined Wits at the beginning of the season, but made only two league starts under Habas.
