Bafana were made to rue their missed chances as they drew 0-0 with New Zealand at the MT Smart Stadium.
Bafana almost got off to the perfect start as Ayanda Patosi played in Tokel Rantie, although the striker failed to beat the on-rushing Glen Moss.
Patosi went close in the 15th minute as he fired inches wide of the upright from just outside the area.
New Zealand's best effort of the first half fell to Marco Rojas, who dragged his effort wide of target after a surging run.
Renielwe Letsholonyane almost gave Bafana the lead in the lead 30th minute as he smashed an effort onto the crossbar from the edge of the area.
Six minutes after the halftime break as Tyler Boyd fired into the side-netting from inside the area.
Substitute Themba Zwane almost put Bafana ahead in the 76th minute as he showed great composure to eliminate one challenge but his eventual effort was deflected out for a corner.
Moss was proving to be the busier of the two goalkeepers, as he pulled off a fine save to keep out Letsholonyane's long range stinging effort.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock in the latter stages of the game, while Ronwen Williams was a spectator for the full 90 minutes.
