Australia, Bafana Share The Spoils

International Friendly
Result: Australia 1-1 South Africa
Date: 26 May 2014
Venue: ANZ Stadium
Ayanda Patosi's first half strike helped Bafana Bafana secure a 1-1 draw with Australia in a international friendly at the ANZ Stadium.
Patosi's early strike was cancelled out by Tim Cahill seconds later, as nothing could separate the two sides in the second half.
Australia attacked Bafana right from the word go, as Senzo Meyiwa was forced into a early saves from midfielder Tommy Oar.
However, it was Gordon Igesund's men that went ahead, as Ayanda Patosi's neat finish in the 12th minute gave Bafana the lead against the run of play.
Unfortunately, the lead did not last that long, as seconds after the opener, Socceroos captain, Tim Cahill out-jumped Meyiwa to head home the equaliser.
The tempo of the first half dies down after Cahill's equaliser, with both sides wasteful in possession as the half drew to a close.
Patosi came close to restoring Bafana's lead two minutes after the restart, but his powerful strike from 20-yards out flew just wide of the upright.
The second half proved to be the opposite of the opening 45 minutes, with Bafana content with sitting back, hoping to catch the Australians on the counter.
Neither side could find the breakthrough in the closing stages of the second, as Bafana hold on for the draw.
