Chiefs Joined By SSU In Striker Pursuit
Interest In Striker Escalates As Chiefs And SuperSport Are Linked With Player
Kaizer Chiefs have been joined by their rivals in the PSL in their pursuit of a striker from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Idris Mbombo is the highly rated DR Congo striker who could soon join one of the clubs in Mzansi’s top tier, according to sources in the know.
As reported in the latest Soccer Laduma, edition 1076, Chiefs have been joined in their interest in the player by SuperSport United.
Both Amakhosi and Matsatsantsa are said to be keen on the player to possibly add to their squads in the new season.
The Siya crew reported in edition 1075 of Soccer Laduma last week that Mbombo’s name is believed to have made it onto the list of potential transfer targets for Chiefs.
With the latest information reaching the Siya crew that there are now two top PSL clubs keen on the 22-year-old, it looks like that chances of the player landing a deal in Mzansi are increasing by the day.
Mbombo is currently on the books of Nkana FC in the Zambian Premier League on loan from Al-Shabab FC of Saudi Arabia.
“Idris Mbombo is on loan with Nkana FC. He came close to signing with SuperSport United last year, but in the end, there were complications that hindered a possible deal. He is a top striker. He is currently on seven goals in the Zambian Premier League. SuperSport is still keen on the boy,” said the source.
The player’s South Africa-based football agent, Michael Ngobeni from M Sport Management, confirmed the interest in the forward.
“There’s been interest in the player from the PSL since last year. He will be keen to listen to PSL clubs, should there be concrete offers for his services. He has been doing well for his club in Zambia and has been scoring goals,” said Ngobeni.
