Barcelona and Spain superstar, Andres Iniesta, has praised Bafana Bafana for the way in which the team went about its business in Tuesday's friendly international against La Furia Roja. Bafana shocked the world by defeating the World and European champions by a 1-0 scoreline.
The defeat to Bafana didn't go well back home in Spain with some media houses branding the loss to a so-called inferior opponent as unnacceptable. However, the widely-respected Iniesta was much more philosophical about the defeat to South Africa.
He gave credit to Bafana's physical approach and accepted the defeat with grace even though he admitted Spain gave their all in the clash.
Iniesta told Spanish daily news sports provider, Marca, "It will get back to where it was. Spain can't always play at 200%. We were up against a very physical opponent and what the opposition does counts too. You can't always win, even when you're Spain and champion of the world. I want to tell the people that this team will get back to where it was. On this occasion the team has been defeated despite giving it everything. Losing always brings up doubts and sparks discussion".
