Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund admits that he is disappointed to have lost to Norway but believes that the team is showing positive signs of improvement.
South Africa went down 1-0 against a plucky Norway side in Cape Town on Tuesday night, but Igesund was pleased with the performance of his players - and is confident that they will be ready for the start of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on 19 January.
"Obviously I'm disappointed because I thought we really played well. We looked more like a team, we used the ball, we had a lot of possession and most importantly we created a lot of good chances," he said.
"I think we've got to work on using our possession better. Especially from the back, we've got to get the ball forward quicker. We were nice and patient, but also sometimes a little too patient.
"I've got to be very pleased with the commitment and the attitude of the players - we worked really hard against a very good and organised team.
"I'm pleased with the performance, disappointed that we lost the game - but we are getting better and better.
"I can see we are improving. There's still work to do but we'll get things right before our first game (of AFCON)."
The coach also took the chance to thank the fans for coming out in numbers, saying, "I want to thank the people of Cape Town. I'm sure they've all gone happy - they're disappointed that we lost - but I'm sure that everybody could see the improvement with the way we're playing.
"Thanks to them for coming out tonight and they must keep supporting - we'll be ready for the 19th."
