Since Gordon Igesund took over at the helm of Bafana Bafana last year, his selection process has largely been dictated by injury. There have been injuries to notable players in all of Igesund’s international camps.
Even now, as he prepares to face Lesotho in an international friendly, and the Central African Republic and Ethiopia in the two respective 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the squad has been affected by injury.
In his first training session ahead of the three games, on Thursday, Igesund admitted that it is a blow not having all the players fit, but said that they have got quality in the current squad.
“We have to do with what we have. We could have loved to have each and every player here with us, but you know injuries are part of football and we have to make sure that we have a strong team for all the three games.
“In the game against Lesotho is where we will see what system we can play in the other two games. But you know the players are dedicated and committed which is a good thing as we prepare for these games,” the four time league winning coach concluded.
