Despite media speculation reporting otherwise, Gordon Igesund has confirmed to the Siya crew that midfielder Thulani Serero has not been suspended from Bafana Bafana.
The 23-year-old was left out of Igesund’s Bafana squad for the recent friendly against Morocco following last month’s World Cup qualifier with Botswana when the Ajax Amsterdam man was asked to leave the Bafana camp.

However, despite the media circus surrounding the situation between SAFA, Igesund and Serero, the national team head coach says that there is a simple explanation for the midfielder’s recent exclusion.
Speaking to the Siya crew Igesund said, “Serero is not suspended. All we’re doing is waiting for a response from him with his side of the story. I’ve submitted my report to SAFA, now they’re waiting for his.
“The kid made a mistake, I’ll support him as I would any other player in the squad, I don’t hold any grudges, but I need to know that he’s fully committed to Bafana.
“He’s a lovely kid and is the future of South African football, I want to look after him.”
SAFA are now waiting for Serero to submit a report with his side of the story before they can move on from the situation and look towards an exciting future for Mzansi’s national team.
