Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund says that he was pleased with what he got out of their 2-0 win over Lesotho in an international friendly on Sunday.
Igesund was looking to try out a variety of combinations at the back after a number of regular defenders were ruled out with injury.
With two important 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic (CAR) and Ethiopia coming up, Igesund says that it was important for him to give different players a run.
"I got an opportunity to see a lot of players today, which was very important for me. The combination of (Tefu) Mashamaite and (Thabo) Nthethe, and the combination of Tlou (Segolela) and (Ricardo) Nunes, but more importantly as well, I gave everyone a run," he said.
"There were three or four players who will probably start our next game that are not here, for example Tokelo Rantie, May Mahlangu and Yeye (Reneilwe Lestholonyane).
"But at the end of the day we got a result, which was important, but the whole exercise was to try and get the back sorted out - and I think I saw a lot that I needed to see today.
"It's unfortunate that we've had so many injuries. It's been difficult, but we are not complaining about it. As I said, I just needed to find the right combination and I think I found it, the first-half and second-half was quite different.
"So, I'm quite happy with what we achieved - it was important to us because without this game I would have been having to experiment in our World Cup qualifier against CAR - and you don't want to do that. You want to go there certain of what you are doing."
