South African State President, Jacob Zuma, on Tuesday met coach Gordon Igesund and his Bafana Bafana squad to offer his support for the Africa Cup of Nations.
President Zuma said that the team will always have its critics and following his visit, Igesund briefed a media gathering where he admitted that they are no strangers to the criticism and that they will stick to their task.
The four time PSL winning coach said that the squad is ready for the continental showpiece, which starts on Saturday when Bafana play the opener against Cape Verde.
"The President told the team that the country is behind the team and that is encouraging to us. We know critics are there and the players are used to that. We are used to that. We will do our job on the field of play and we thank the President for the visit.
“As for the mood, it is great in the camp. Everyone is motivated and happy to be representing their country," Igesund concluded.
