A former Kaizer Chiefs development player picked up the Man of the Match award as Polokwane City defeated the AmaKhosi on Saturday evening.
Defender Nicholas Motloung played a starring role as Rise and Shine defeated Chiefs 1-0 at an empty Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Motloung did not make one appearance for the Chiefs first team during his time there, and he was emotional when accepting the Man of the Match accolade.
“I’d like to thank God for this talent and the coach for giving me the chance. I was deserving [to play]. You can see I’m even in tears,” the teary Motloung expressed himself after the match on SuperSport TV.
“I’m very emotional because I was first at Kaizer Chiefs, so playing against them is a big opportunity.
“I was never given a chance at Chiefs so I had to move to Polokwane to further my talent. I had a lot to prove,
"I’ve been working very hard throughout the season and in the pre-season. The coach saw the best in me. He put me inside the lion’s den so I had to play and prove myself,” Motloung said.
