Mamelodi Sundowns are set to adjust to life without Percy Tau and Khama Billiat and Soccer Laduma takes a look at the number of games that the team has lost when without the duo’s services.
Sundowns have made four signings ahead of the new season so far, adding attacking players such as Toni Silva, Jose Ali Meza and Lyle Lakay, while bolstering their midfield with Andile Jali.
However, despite adding the needed cover to prepare for Billiat’s absence and Tau’s departure, the Brazilians are yet to adjust to not having those two skilful playmakers in the squad.
Tau played in every single Absa Premiership encounter in the 2017/18, where the Brazilians went on to lift the Absa Premiership trophy.
However, the 24-year-old’s absence was indeed felt during their previous CAF Champions League encounter, where the Brazilians were without both Billiat and Tau, suffering a 1-0 loss to AS Togo Port.
On the other hand, there have been several domestic encounters that the Brazilians have lost without Billiat in their setup, including double losses to Polokwane City, a loss to AmaZulu FC and Orlando Pirates, an indication that the Zimbabwean has been influential to their success when fit.
Despite signing Meza and Silva, the duo is yet to make their debut in the Ka Bo Yellow colours, with indications that Sundowns may want to add more to their squad to finally find replacements for Tau and Billiat.
