Kekana: We Lost Important Players To Chiefs
Hlompho Kekana Says That He Still Has A Soft Spot For His Former Mamelodi Sundowns Teammates
Hlompho Kekana says that it pains him to play his former teammates, as Mamelodi Sundowns prepare to face Kaizer Chiefs this weekend.
Khama Billiat recently completed his move to Chiefs and will now come up against his former side in the Absa Premiership, with Kekana revealing that he sometimes forgets that they are no longer teammates.
Billiat joins the list of Leonardo Castro and Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who made the moves from Sundowns to Amakhosi, with it always being an interesting outing when they are able to face their former teammates, however Kekana is eager to put his ‘soft’ spot aside on the day.
“It is always nice to play against Chiefs, we’ve lost so many important players to Chiefs and it always pains me to really play against me because at times I even forget that they are no longer my teammates, I still hug them, I still talk to them on the day I need to professional and stick to the basics so I need to really take this soft spot that I have for them and try to be mean on the day," Kekana told the media ahead of the 2018/19 season.
