Kekana Waits On Downs As Talks Begin
Hlompho Kekana is now waiting on a response from Mamelodi Sundowns after talks regarding a new contract for the club’s captain were opened up.
The Siya crew recently reported that the likes of Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United were keeping an eye on the 31-year-old prior to the expiration of his current deal at the end of the campaign, with the player able to discuss terms with any interested parties come January.
However, as stated in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, both Kekana and the club are eager to extend their relationship together, with ‘KK’ happy with life at the club and ‘Downs unwilling to lose their third skipper in three years.
At present, Kekana is waiting for Sundowns to get back to him, although given his fine form and the departure of Alje Schut and Ramahlwe Mphahlele over the past two seasons, Pitso Mosimane and his technical team are keen to make sure that the former Bloemfontein Celtic man is still with them in 2017/18.
